Bob Compton to Screen Revealing New Education Documentary in Indianapolis
Film reveals a school that demonstrates solutions to America’s education crisis
(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – October 23, 2009) – Global new venture investor and entrepreneur Bob Compton will screen his newest documentary film, The 21st Century Solution, in Indianapolis on Wednesday, October 28.
This new film is a sequel to Compton’s first documentary Two Million Minutes: A Global Examination. This first film analyzed global education, comparing how high school students in the U.S., India and China prioritized their time. Ultimately, the film revealed that American education is in crisis: students spend less time in school and studying than the Indian and Chinese students, have teachers who are largely less educated than in these Asian countries and have less cultural support to achieve, academically, than their Asian peers do.
In The 21st Century Solution, Compton reveals a charter school in Tucson, Ariz. which educates its students at an extraordinary, globally-competitive level. This school, called BASIS, demonstrates that American students are capable of competing academically with the best in the world given the right curriculum, the right teachers, the right inspiration and expectations for success.
"Having been extremely discouraged at the United States' ability to educate its students, I was thrilled to discover what was happening at BASIS," said Compton. "I realized that, not only is it possible for America to provide a globally-competitive level of education to its students, but BASIS is proving that there are simple solutions that really work."
Compton will screen his new film on Wednesday, October 28 at the Keystone Art Cinema in Indianapolis. Tickets are available for $10 each. Please contact orders@2mminutes.com or 888-705-5324 to reserve seats in advance. DVDs of The 21st Century Solution will be available for sale at the reduced rate of $10 (regular price is $25) at the event.
