DENISHA FISHER
A chronicler of personal experience, Denisha’s art goes beyond poetry to spiritual story-telling. A 25 year old single mother, with three sons under the age of eight, Denisha has been abandoned and abused. She supports her family at a $10/hour day job. Her pain, her personal strength and her faith resonate in her powerful, emotional, engaging art. Her first DVD, Lovesick, is a collection of 16 performance poems – ranging from Soul Food, a eulogy to a beloved Grandmother, to the title track Lovesick, a cathartic exorcism of the pain of an abused wife. |
